Extraordinary Five: Comedians

Comedians are the truth tellers and healers we all need. Especially now. Here are my current extraordinary five comics.

01. Kyla Cobbler (Real name Mikayla O’Connor)

This brilliant bit about how she got her cobbler nickname cemented my allegiance to her. And the Kris Jenner facelift commentary is just further example of her perfection.

@kylacobblercomedy was disloyal to Geppetto and the boys! 🤣 This week we hear all about Kyla’s experiences dating in Italy 🇮🇹 For the full episode of Talking Bollox with Kyla Cobbler head over to the GoLoud app or wherever you get your podcasts 🎧 #KylaCobbler #TalkingBollox #GoLoud #FunnyStories #DatingInItaly #Hinge #DatingDisasters

02. Nate Bargatze (pronounced Barg-Etsy)

After seeing this OG show (circa 2017) I literally told everyone I knew to watch him. He’s now everywhere. Literally everywhere (deservedly so). But I knew him way back when. This milk bit lives rent-free in my head. I can’t look at anyone ordering milk in public without thinking of him. Important legacy.

You can watch this OG episode on Netflix in The Standups (Nate is season 1, episode 1) circa 2017. He’s done so much great stuff since but this remains my all-time fave.

03. Chris Fleming

He’s everything I want a human to be: funny, humble, brilliant, loving (with unrivalled personal style). There is no one out there like him.

04. Alex Edelman

I was lucky enough to see this man’s live Broadway show years ago. We all left feeling uplifted, informed and challenged. And our faces and bellies hurt from laughing. Love him.

05. Morgan Evelyn Cook

While not performing on stage (yet?) – Morgan’s comedic whisper/mumble videos are legendary. Part social commentary, part deep humanity and big part laughs. You just feel better after watching her.

Just let them hang off the sides of mountains in peace #oregon #relatable

Bonus

While I’m not a huge Nick Kroll fan – this clip about how he responds to his mom vs his dad is worth a mention.

Love you all you bunnies in your bunny suits.
