I just read the words ‘Elizabeth Street Garden is Saved’ and I quite honestly couldn’t really believe it. For those that read my last post explaining the many attempts to save the garden from developers, I honestly wasn’t sure it could actually happen. I think I had accepted that it would be an ongoing struggle and fight. Symbolic of the struggle so many are navigating right now (in so many ways and on so many levels). It felt like it may require a perpetual fight for the good. The right. The decent. The love. I secretly wondered if those with power could or would ever value the same.
But this???? This is PROOF MAGIC EXISTS. Good can win. Nature is queen. For a moment, balance feels like it has been restored. I know. It may seem so small in comparison to all that is underway in the world but may it serve as a blueprint for what it takes to succeed.
Wherever you may be in the fight you are fighting in your own life. Keep going. This is quite literally living proof that good and beauty can prevail.
I am so incredibly grateful Elizabeth Street Garden exists and will persist. Congratulations to the whole team who fought, volunteered, donated, posted, painted, photographed, wrote. All of it helped to grow this magical moment.
